Artist Focus: Mehdi Pakdel

Mehdi was born in a city where civilization flows in its alleys. Color and beauty of Isfahan’s architecture was always enjoyable to him and the symmetry of bridges and mosques was always rapturous to him. Rising up in such an artistic atmosphere made Mehdi interested in graphic. Besides, his brother, Masoud, who is a professional photographer, has caused him to connect with art more. After high school he has decided to come to Tehran to continue his education.
Isfahan’s academic atmosphere was not suitable for continuing his education due to numerous limitations. Therefore he has decided to move to somewhere bigger to continue his education. He chose Tehran. He was accepted in Tehran Azad University while his rank was three. When he was studying his 3rd semester his brother, Hussein Pakdel, became the chairman of Tehran City Theater and he used to go there frequently as his university was nearby. His familiarity with theater, actors and actresses has caused him to be invited for a role because of his appropriate expression and voice. So he has started his journey in the path of theater and this has made him so busy that he had let his education unfinished. But this separation was only academic and couldn’t diminidh his passion for graphic. After leaving university, he has continued his work as a graphic designer and photographer in Masoud’s office and was active in designing posters and catalogs for theater festivals. Meanwhile Mehdi, his nephew, Yahya, and his brother, Masoud, have their own professional advertising studio names Pakdel Studio.
The majority of Mehdi’s graphic works are theater posters. He believes that designing a poster for theater is the most cultural branch of this art because you are inviting your audience to the world of theater by picturing a two dimensional delineation of the stage.
