Artist Focus: Soheyl Bastami
Sculptor – IRAN

Soheil Bastami is an Iranian young creative artist who has started his career by studying graphics. As he was progressing in graphic, creating the 3rd dimension in artworks has become more and more interesting for him; finally he was led into the world of sculpture. Soheil’s ideas are curious due to his view of his surrounding people. This artist observes his surrounding and people with such accuracy that he creates his various statues through talking and communicating with various people.
Soheil says about performing his primary sketches: “First I write down whatever comes to my mind, and then I start sketching on the paper step by step. I continue this sketching process until it satisfies me. I also look back to the previous sketches from time to time whether to complete, or redesign it. In the 2nd stage, I make a small sample of my design with paste in order to apply necessary changes. The final step is to choose the size and material of the statue according to sensation of what I have designed.”
